Propylene Glycol is used in many applications such as food, medical, humidor, personal use, bubble making, and general antifreeze applications. Glycol is a by-product of biodiesel in the initial form of glycerol. Propylene glycol is mostly sold to the market in two main categories; Technical Grade Propylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol USP.
Propylene Glycol USP is approved for direct use in food, beverage, and medical applications. Propylene Glycol USP meets Technical Grade Propylene Glycol specifications.
Glycol is used in chiller applications where it is necessary to have freeze points below 32F. Dairies, breweries, wineries, and other food manufacturing facilities are good examples of Glycol users. Glycol is very soluble is water and is considered safer compared to Ethylene Glycol in environmental or consumption areas of concern.
Glycol is considered a safe form of Antifreeze. Propylene Glycol and Technical Grade Propylene are excellent choices for safe Antifreezes. Just dilute with water to your desired freeze protection,
